Uncork a classic in a new colorway with the Air Jordan 6 Retro ‘Bordeaux’

Mention the word “Bordeaux” to most people, and the first thing that comes to mind is red wine from the southwest of France.

But to the rest of us, specifically sneakerheads, it conjures the 1992 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando.

This midseason classic was especially memorable, given Magic Johnson came out of retirement to win MVP honors and led all scorers with 25 points on the night.

For those keeping an eye on sneakers, though, it was an unforgettable night for a different reason.

Up until that point, Michael Jordan had used the All-Star Game to unveil the latest model of his signature sneaker line, which always came in Chicago Bulls-adjacent colorways.

Not in ’92, though. That year he certainly graced the hardwood at Orlando Arena wearing the forthcoming Air Jordan 7, but definitely not in red, black or white.

Featuring black uppers with Light Graphite underlays and splashes of that deep, wine-red hue and tribal designs on the tongues, the Air Jordan 7 ‘Bordeaux’ was an instant icon that saw retro releases in 2011 and 2015 for the silhouette’s 23rd birthday.

Those tones have graced other models in the Nike/Jumpman stable too, from the Air Jordan 3 to the Nike LF1 Duckboot and Air Max 200 and beyond.

As we head into Fall, where earthy tones take over once again, Jordan Brand has brought the color combination back to continue the 30th anniversary celebration of the predecessor to that 1992 release.

The Air Jordan 6 Retro ‘Bordeaux,’ comes true to the original specifications of the OG model.
