Sneakers take a bold turn towards high fashion with the Dior x Air Jordan 1 Retro OG, often referred to simply as “Air Dior.” The shoe debuted in December 2019 at a Miami runway event showcasing Dior’s men’s collection for Fall 2020. Registration for the Air Dior began shortly
after. Here’s everything you need to know about 2020’s most sought- after sneaker.
It’s a Kim Jones Joint
The Air Dior was designed by Kim Jones, Dior’s artistic director of men’s collections. Inspired by Michael Jordan’s sense of style, both on the court and off, it combines Dior’s esteemed heritage with the 1980s throwback trend familiar to those who regularly buy mens sneakers.
It May Be a Sneaker, But It Exudes Dior
Made in Italy, the Air Dior’s colorway features subtle “dust white” and “wolf grey” blocking with wolf grey laces. Its familiar Nike swoosh is black and sheathed in a recurring Dior logo pattern — a.k.a. the brand’s “Oblique” print — which has become synonymous with Jones’ tenure at Dior.
The limited-edition shoe is available in both high- and low-top styles that boast hand-painted edges. Check them out here.
The Shoes Are Only the Beginning, Though
In addition to Air Dior shoes, the capsule collection includes an entire line of ready-to-wear luxury apparel that melds Dior’s exquisite fit with the Jordan Brand’s competitive energy, including blazers, cashmere sweaters, wool suits, bomber jackets and suede hoodies.
Accessories are available, as well, such as hats, necklaces, silk scarves, jacquard ties and leather pouches and wallets. All pieces sport Dior’s exquisite attention to detail in the form of touches both subtle and audacious.
From its instantly iconic shoes to its wide range of tailored sportswear and accessories, the Air Dior collection merges fashion excellence with athletic transcendence.
